Ernie Martens graduated from Walters High School in 1974. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Oklahoma State University. Mr. Martens has 28 years of experience in education. He began his career as an Agriculture Education Instructor, then moved into Alternative Education and into Administration 10 years ago.
Mr. Martens believes that students who attend Sallisaw High School must be given the best possible opportunity to learn, regardless of interest or ability. SHS students are expected to excel in their academics as well as their activities. SHS students must also learn the necessary life skills to succeed as an adult.
Students at Sallisaw High School are expected to take great pride in being Black Diamonds. The staff at SHS will also give the students opportunities to participate in many community activities and will expect them to represent our school and community well.
